The Shakopee Mdewakanton tribe, located outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the richest tribe in America. They own two casinos that allow for a 99.2% unemployment rate amongst the 480 members of the tribe. How?
The revenues have reached an estimated $1 billion per year, which works out to about $84,000 per month, per person. These men and women are living in huge mansions, vacationing on yachts, and driving the newest, fanciest cars. That’s a far cry from the picture of Indian tribes most people have in their mind!
