We know that sharks are deadly, but to be honest, there are not that many people that die as a result of a shark attack each year. This surprises a lot of people, and to show how rare it is we can compare it to the number of deaths caused by other things that we just never view as being so dangerous.

Take this as a good example. On a yearly basis, there are more people killed by falling coconuts than shark attacks. Just think about that for a second. If you are in an area where there are coconuts, then perhaps you shouldn’t be thinking too much about the dangers in the sea; it’s more about the dangers above you that should be concerning to you.
