The car is the most popular form of transport, and it is easy to understand why that is indeed the case. However, are you aware of just how many cars there are on earth being driven around at this moment in time?
Well, even though we do not know an exact number, it is fair to say that there are at least one billion cars right at this very moment. In other words, roughly one in eight people have a car, and when you consider the population that cannot afford one due to being in poverty, then that figure becomes even more surprising than before.
Of course, the spread of cars is also very uneven throughout the world, and the west certainly has more than one car for every eight people, but perhaps the scariest part of all is the way in which this figure is expected to continue growing, so there may be a time where we simply become swamped by cars in the world.
