Too often in the world today we are obsessed by the way in which we throw things away at the very first sign of them being broken. However, the same idea does not apply across the world, as can be seen by an entire philosophy that exists in Japan about this very subject.

In Japan, there is something called Kintsukuroi and it is the art of re-building a broken piece of pottery by using either gold or silver lacquer. They have the belief that the piece of pottery is actually more beautiful because it is broken and that it should be preserved for that very reason.

Ultimately, you do end up with pieces of pottery that resemble a puzzle. It is all about the art of putting it together and effectively being lost in the midst of what you are doing when repairing the item.
