With all of the new technology in the world and some of the highest-paying fans around, the NFL (National Football League) is always up to date on the trends… with the exception of one old reliable. For years, the NFL has been using ammonium carbonate, better known as smelling salts, to help bring unconscious players back to consciousness.
The smelling salts work by stimulating a nerve that runs from the nose into the brain. Many football players have attested to the effectiveness of the smelling salts, with some even going so far as to sniffing them in the middle of games to help increase alertness. Who would’ve thought something so simple could help fuel a multi-billion-dollar operation?!
