Teens can be quite impressionable, and it is said that many teens will do just about anything to impress their friends. One teenager in Australia took that to the next level and beyond in early 2017. Lee De Paauw was drinking with friends at a hostel in Queensland when he met a girl who captured his interest. He told her that backpackers were more likely than other Australians to be bitten or eaten by crocodiles, which led to a dare. De Pawauw jumped into the Johnstone River, known for being a home to many crocodiles. Upon his entry, he was immediately picked up by a crocodile that measured nearly ten feet long. To break free, he punched the crocodile in the snout and eye until it let go of him. He made it out with treatable injuries to his arm and acknowledged that what he did was reckless. There is a happy ending, however: the girl he was trying to impress agreed to go on a date with him once he made a full recovery.
