The equator is at the heart of a number of different facts, and this one is no different. If you take the length of the equator and imagine people holding hands together, how many hands do you think it would take in order to stretch all the way around the equator?

The answer is not exactly set in stone, and it does involve taking an average size person, but the answer to the question is 33 million people. That does sound like a lot, but then it does mean only a tenth of the population of the United States would be required and they could then go all the way around the world. You must admit that this is pretty impressive stuff.
