When it comes to a country with ornate temples, then you would be hard-pressed to find a country that could beat Japan in that category. However, even with their turbulent past, you are going to still be amazed at a series of five temples in the city of Kyoto, as they have something that is certainly different from anything else that you have seen before.

If you venture into any of this group of five temples, then you should spend some time looking at the ceiling. If you were expecting to see something that is ornate and highly decorative, then think again. Instead, what you will see are ceilings that are covered in bloodstains, which is hardly the kind of thing you would have never thought of encountering.

However, it turns out that the blood that you see on the ceiling, along with footprints as well, is because of the board on the ceiling being reused from a castle where some Japanese warriors were killed in a battle with the enemy. In other words, you are looking at their blood and it is a sign of a deadlier time at a castle nearby. So, it is as gruesome as you were expecting.
