Being one of the lead members of the most popular band in the world did mean that you had a certain amount of power under your control, and it seems that John Lennon was not afraid to use it.
Back in 1965, he was rather unhappy that his father had gone ahead and released his own album trying to hitch a ride on the success that his son was having. Now, he may not have been too impressed at what his father was doing, but it seems that he was more embarrassed at what the album was like, and he certainly had no desire to be associated with it.
This eventually led to him getting the album pulled from being on sale in different parts of the world. The Beatles were having huge success then it did mean that people were willing to listen to him. It is unknown what his father thought of it all, but you just know that he would not have been too happy.
