When it comes to meat that is popular, then you would be hard pressed to find something that could surpass the popularity of chicken. However, even though there are millions and millions of them eaten around the world, you may not be aware that we are pretty much eating the same chicken.

Now, you could be confused as to what we mean here, so let us explain.

Back in 1948, there was a chicken competition that became known as the ‘Chicken of Tomorrow’ contest. Ultimately, the prize was something that was completely different, as it is now known that pretty much all of the chickens that we now eat today stem from the genetic code of the winner of that competition.

The genetics of that one single bird are now the dominant one to be found in poultry farms around the world.
