Who doesn’t love the Black Panda? However, even though it is famous for having black patches around its eyes, are you aware of the legend that lies behind them?
The story itself may appear to be slightly unconventional, but then isn’t any legend? Basically, the tale behind it is that the panda was originally completely white in color. A young girl stumbled across a panda cub that was being attacked by a leopard, and she could not stand back and just allow this to happen. Unfortunately for her, the leopard stopped attacking the cub and killed her instead.
After this, pandas came to her funeral and wore armbands that were made from black sashes. Sad at what had happened, the pandas began to cry, and in trying to wipe away the tears, the pandas inadvertently smudging the sashes over their eyes. It then led to their eyes becoming stained leading to the familiar look that we all know and love today.
