The word ‘cosmetic’ comes from the Ancient Greeks, who certainly contributed more than their fair share of words to today’s the English language, and it stems from their word ‘kosmos’. This word is indeed the same as our ‘cosmos’ but you would never think about putting the two terms together since they describe completely different things.
