2001: A Space Odyssey is one of Stanley Kubrick’s most iconic movies. Over forty years after the film was released, in 2010, seventeen missing minutes of footage from the film were found in storage at a Kansas salt mine. To this day, no one other than the special effects supervisor and several others working on the film has seen those missing scenes, with one exception. The scenes were included in the film’s initial premiere, and then Kubrick removed them to allow for a better flow throughout the film.
