Every New Year’s Eve is popular when it comes to parties and celebrations. With huge crowds everywhere, it is the kind of thing where you need the police to be around in order to control the crowds and make sure that nothing untoward will happen. Well, that is how it works in most places.
In 2014, it seems that the police officers based in Rome had other ideas as to what they wanted to do at the end of the year. Did they want to go ahead and do the thing that they were paid for? Did they want to go and party like everybody else?
It turns out that the answer was certainly that they wanted to party, as it has been shown that out of the 1000 police officers that are based in Rome that just over 800 of them called in sick for that evening. Yes, over 80% of the police force of Rome had all been struck down with some mystery illness at the same time.
