Graffiti is nothing new, but what do you think graffiti that is 2000 years old would say? Are you of the opinion that it would be along the same lines as today where people would write their name on some public place? Well, if you did think that, then you would be very wrong indeed.

Instead, graffiti that has been discovered in Pompeii was very varied, to say the least. Two such examples that show you how different it is from our modern equivalent are phrases that reflect the times.

For example, one piece of graffiti was found to say, ‘On April 19 I made bread’, while the other example said ‘If anyone does not believe in Venus, they should gaze at my girlfriend.’

To be honest, nobody would have ever guessed at either of those examples, and it does show that even back in the distant past that people were indeed still human even when it comes down to the graffiti that they would leave all over the place.
