For large countries, it is very possible for you to be a substantial distance away from the sea, but that is not the case in England. Of course, the fact that the United Kingdom is an island does make life a whole lot easier, but even then, you may be surprised to discover just how close you are always going to be from the sea, no matter where in the country you are located.
While parts of Canada or the United States can be an absolute eternity away from the sea, you are never more than 75 miles from the sea anywhere in the UK. Yes, you can pretty much drive there in next to no time and be dipping your toes in the ice-cold water, and all before it is time for lunch.
Now, that’s not to say that the actual beach itself will be worthy of you spending time there because that is probably not true. However, if you are just looking for that bracing sea air, then it really is quite close to hand.
